Extensive food policy changes under the second Trump administration are affecting food insecurity, food access, food prices, and food attributes and thus directly impacting US consumers. This theme explores changes in SNAP, tariffs, food regulation, and dietary guidelines and their effects on program participants, food producers, and food consumers.

Public attitudes toward tariffs are shaped less by price expectations and more by symbolic narratives about fairness, strength, and national identity. Political affiliation is the dominant predictor of these beliefs, which at least partially explains why tariffs remain politically resilient despite higher consumer prices.
